change

your head once nestled
snuggly under my chin
now mine under yours

tiny baby feet
soft wiggling toes of delight
now size ten sneaker

carried on my hip
hands held tight now push away
let me down

eye rolled message sent
my mothers words from my mouth
eye roll now received

one single impression

That made me smile (it must be the eye rolling).

A story in four short stanzas! Change that mothers know! Nicely done!

The non-verbal connection between mother and child is powerful. So much is said, not said. Touching and beautiful.

This is just so true. Happy Mother's Day from the UK :)

What a tender piece that also conveys a certain sadness of children growing up and apart.

It's so lovely . . . and then the end, when I cracked up at the vision of those rolling eyes! Spectacular. A panorama of life.
My change is here. Thank you.

oh this was lovely... even those of us that have never raised a child have been one and can remember when the shoe went to the other foot.....

This is great! Being a parent and the once exasperating and yet well-loved son of my mom, I related to both sides of the pieces. Thanks.

Your poems make me laugh! My daughter is getting this from her boys, and she just told me that she has become me!

Lovely. You made me smile, told a story and left me with just a touch of wistfulness. Nicely done. Thanks for visiting Raven's Nest and for your kind words there.

Still smiling with this one! I immediately thought of my own grown up daughter. The "shoe" I gave her is still being worn in, but I am sure eventaully it will fit her snugly.

Most enjoyable!
