Yes, we all at some time in life learn how to 'carry on'... Beautifully put.

I really dread those moments in life, when I have to act like a grownup when what I really want to do is sob like a child!

Melancholy, but beautifully expressed. Partings are always difficult.

ooooh, these words went straight to my heart.

Unfranchised grief (those griefs that can't be publicly grieved for whatever reason) is the most difficult.

This is sparingly beautiful. Thank you, qualcosa...di bello...

You're making me sad a little. Mrs. Jim is visiting her sister. Your absentee isn't coming back (soon?), Mrs. Jim will be in tomorrow night.
Absence can be terribly hard. My first wife never came back.

What I like is that the sense of mourning begins before the person has even left our sight.

I know the feeling well. Beautifully expressed.

Ooh. The little grave marker is heart rending--but the moment you describe is more so. The disguise of cheer is so helpful and sometimes the only defense.

This really struck a chord with me. These times are so difficult to forget. Do we ever get over them? I think so. Sometimes I still find myself waving.
